Comparisons Of Summer 2024 Vegas Tournaments
I put this site together in the hope that poker players would use my method to compare tournament structures
(S-Points), play in the better structured ones and force casinos to improve
theirs. Every year when the Vegas casinos release their tournament structures for their main series I
will update this page to show how they are doing. The top section will be an extensive breakdown of
No Limit Hold'em and the bottom will be a a year to year comparison of similar Omaha
tournaments.
No Limit Hold'em
My goal with this comparison is to give a fair representation of each casino's structures and fees,
consolidate the most amount of data and highlight the casinos offering good tournaments. Here's the method
I used for No Limit Hold'em:
• Counted each Day 1 as a unique tournament. |
• Excluded Turbo, Online, Satellite and Daily tournaments. |
• Excluded tournaments starting after 5 pm. |
• Put each tournament into 1 of 5 Cost Ranges based on its Buy-In. |
My advice is to use this data as a benchmark. Use the 'All Tournaments' row of the buy-in range you play in to find the average S-Points
and Vig % for that range. Then, when deciding on a specific tournament to play see how its S-Points and Vig % compares to the average
tournament for its range to make sure its a good value.
Omaha
For Omaha, there's no point in doing a complex Cost Range analysis because there just aren't that many tournaments.
If you want to find the best one for your price range and timeframe, its simple enough to just
view
all Omaha tournaments or use the left column of this page to filter specifically to what you are looking for.
The below comparison is 2024 tournaments compared to their 2023 counterparts
to see how each has changed. For example, the 2024 WSOP $10k PLO is compared only to the
2023 WSOP $10k PLO. If a tournament only occured in
1 of those years, it did not make the list below. Green cells means it got better for
the players, red means worse.
* Denotes inexact cost match. Some casinos slightly changed tournament costs from last year.
